What AI for Mortals is
Every weekday, the practical AI updates that matter, and exactly what to do with them. The Mortal Brief goes out every weekday morning. Its stories have longer versions on this site, with their sources linked.
The site is organised by who you are: At Work, For Creators, For Marketers and The Human Angle. Model Comparisons runs the same builds on each new AI model and reports what each one made and what it cost.
Built by Pat collects the games, websites, 3D scenes and apps from those tests, with the exact prompt and every model’s version. Skills and Tools are free, open-source projects Pat built and uses, with the code on GitHub.
Who writes it

Pat Simmons writes AI for Mortals.
Pat tests new AI models and tools on his YouTube channel, building the same projects with each model so the results can be compared side by side. Those results feed SimmonsBench, his model benchmark, and the Built by Pat gallery here.
How the articles are made
- Stories link the sources they are based on: the company announcement, the paper or the reporting they draw from.
- Model comparisons give each model the same prompt. The builds are published live, with the prompt and what each run cost.
- When a published article needs a correction, the corrected version goes out at a new address and the old address redirects to it.
