Changelog
October 2026
- New model
Brave Leo added GPT 5.6 Luna, GPT 5.6 Terra and Grok 4.6 to its model menu for desktop users on v1.98.
What this means for you: Brave's built-in AI assistant, Leo, now lets you pick from three more models: GPT 5.6 Luna, GPT 5.6 Terra and Grok 4.6. You choose which model answers your questions from a menu.
How to use it: Update Brave to v1.98 on desktop. The new models appear in the model selection menu.
- New feature
Brave Leo now offers end-to-end encrypted chat with GLM 5.3 Flash, available to users in Nightly, Beta and Release.
What this means for you: Brave Leo now has an end-to-end encrypted chat using the GLM 5.3 Flash model. Your browser encrypts each prompt before it leaves your device, so only an attested Trusted Execution Environment (TEE, a locked-down secure area on a server) can decrypt it.
Why it matters: It follows the Sep 11 update that added expiring encrypted share links for Leo conversations.
How to use it: Available to users in Brave's Nightly, Beta and Release versions. Open Leo in Brave and choose the encrypted GLM 5.3 Flash chat.
