Changelog
October 2026
- New feature
Cline Desktop adds a Changes pane with diffs, a project files panel, and an integrated terminal panel.
What this means for you: Cline Desktop now shows what the AI changed. A Changes pane lists the files edited in the last turn or the whole session, with a diff (a side-by-side view of what was added and removed) for each. A project files panel shows your folder tree beside the chat, and a terminal panel opens at the bottom of the window.
How to use it: Click the Changes button in the session header. Click the folder button in the session header for the project files panel. Toggle the terminal with Ctrl+backtick. This is in Cline Desktop v0.0.49.
- New feature
Cline adds a Local or Cloud toggle in API settings to pick the model for cloud tasks, plus a progress card when a cloud sandbox starts.
What this means for you: If you use Cline's cloud tasks, you can choose which model they run on. The choice is saved separately from your local models. When a cloud sandbox starts, a progress card shows the repo, branch and steps, then collapses once the agent starts.
Why it matters: Cloud sessions began a gradual rollout on Oct 16, which run tasks in a hosted sandbox on a chosen GitHub repo and branch.
How to use it: Open Settings, then API Configuration, and use the Local | Cloud toggle. It appears when cloud sessions are on. You can also click the model label in a cloud session's composer. This is in Cline v4.1.26.
- New model
Cline Desktop makes Claude Sonnet 5.5 the default model for the Cline provider again and adds the CommandCode and Reflection providers.
What this means for you: Cline Desktop, the coding assistant app, goes back to Claude Sonnet 5.5 as the model it picks by default when you use the Cline provider. It also adds two new providers, CommandCode and Reflection. GPT-6 models such as gpt-6-sol now work on OpenAI and Azure OpenAI-compatible endpoints. Before, every request to them was rejected.
Why it matters: Cline made Claude Sonnet 5.5 its default on Oct 13, and this update puts it back at the top of Cline's recommended list.
How to use it: Update Cline Desktop to v0.0.48.
- Launch
Cline begins a gradual rollout of Cloud sessions, which run tasks in a hosted sandbox on a chosen GitHub repo and branch.
What this means for you: Cline can now run a coding task on a hosted sandbox (a separate computer in the cloud) using a GitHub repo and branch you pick. Cloud tasks appear in Recent and History with their status, notify you when they finish, and keep running after you close your editor.
Why it matters: It follows Oct 2, when Cline Desktop cloud sessions gained support for Cline Usage-Billing, ClinePass and ClineFree models.
How to use it: Cloud sessions are rolling out gradually in Cline v4.1.25. Turn them on in Settings, then pick a GitHub repo and branch.
- New feature
Cline Desktop adds an outline along the left edge of the conversation that lists each prompt sent and jumps to it on click.
What this means for you: In Cline Desktop, a thin outline now runs along the left edge of a conversation with one mark for each prompt you sent. Hover over a mark to preview that prompt. Click it to jump straight to that spot, so you don't have to scroll through a long chat.
How to use it: The outline is in Cline Desktop v0.0.46, released Oct 13. Update the app to get it.
- New model
Cline adds Claude Haiku 5.5 and the AI/ML API, LowRouter, and Prime Inference providers, and defaults to Claude Sonnet 5.5.
What this means for you: Cline now offers Claude Haiku 5.5 and three new providers, which are the services that supply the AI models: AI/ML API, LowRouter and Prime Inference. If you haven't chosen a model, the Cline and OpenRouter providers now use Claude Sonnet 5.5. For Cline, that is the first model in its recommended list.
Why it matters: The default model has changed again. On Sep 30, Cline made GPT-6.1 Sol the default for OpenAI, OpenRouter and several other providers.
How to use it: This is in Cline v4.1.24. Several other providers also got new defaults, mostly Claude Haiku 5.5 or Muse Wonder 1.0. If you use one of them without pinning a model, expect a different default. Choose a model yourself to keep the one you use now.
