Grok, Cursor and X Premium Now Come in One Plan, From $8 a Month
SpaceXSI's new X Subscription puts Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium on one bill and one shared usage pool, in tiers from $8 to $200 a month.
SpaceXSI now sells The X Subscription, one plan that covers Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium, in tiers from $8 to $200 a month.
SpaceXSI (SpaceX Super Intelligence) is the company behind Grok and X, called SpaceXAI until its recent rename, and Cursor has been part of the same SpaceX family since SpaceX agreed to buy it in June. Until now, each of those came with its own subscription and its own bill.
New customers can sign up now, and SpaceXSI says it will be available everywhere over the next few days.
What each of the four products is
Grok is SpaceXSI's chatbot, with voice chat, image and video generation (Grok Imagine) and a coding agent (Grok Build). Grok Bot is its personal agent, which SpaceXSI calls "AI teammates that get work done," and which I've covered as it got its own email address and the ability to search and watch X for you.
Cursor is a code editor with AI coding agents built in, and Claude Code is Anthropic's coding agent. X Premium is the paid version of X, with the checkmark, fewer or no ads and creator tools.
The five tiers and what each one includes
Here's how the plans line up, according to Cursor's pricing page and SpaceXSI's announcement:
- Free ($0): daily Grok access, a starter allowance for Cursor's coding agents, and regular X.
- Plus ($8 a month): more Grok and Cursor usage plus the X checkmark and fewer ads. Only Grok models work in Cursor on this plan, and there's no Grok Bot and no video generation.
- Premium ($30 a month): four times the usage of Plus, Grok Bot, AI images and video, Cursor's cloud agents, Bugbot code reviews, and ad-free X on most of the app.
- Super ($100 a month): everything in Premium with 15 times the usage of Plus, plus priority access at busy times.
- Ultra ($200 a month): 50 times the usage of Plus and the earliest access to new products and models.
SpaceXSI says Premium includes "the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+, previously $90/month combined." Paying yearly brings it down to $300 a year, about $25 a month.
Cloud agents are Cursor's coding agents that run on Cursor's computers, so a job keeps going after you close your laptop. Bugbot reads your code changes and flags bugs and security problems before they ship.
SpaceXSI recommends Premium for people new to AI, Super for people who use agents every day and Ultra for power users, with Plus meant for X creators who barely use AI.
Teams pay $30, $100 or $200 a seat for the Premium, Super and Ultra levels. Plus isn't offered to teams.
Why Claude and GPT now cost extra in Cursor
On the new plans, only Grok models come included, and Claude and GPT are billed at their full API price from the very first request.
That money comes out of credit you buy ahead of time, on top of your plan. You can set a monthly spending cap, and if you haven't added credit, Cursor asks you to buy some before a Claude or GPT request runs, so it won't charge you by surprise.
A lot of Cursor's paying users picked it because one editor gave them all the best models, and that's the main complaint so far. The other big one comes from people on Cursor's $60 Pro+ plan, which has no matching new tier, so the next step up is the $100 Super plan.
How the shared weekly usage pool works
Every paid tier gets one pool of usage that covers Grok chat, voice, images and video, Grok Bot and Cursor. It resets every week, and you can spend all of it on one product if you want.
Grok Bot draws from the same pool, so a busy week of Grok Bot jobs leaves less for coding in Cursor.
SpaceXSI says each new tier gives more usage per dollar than the plan it replaces, and at least twice the coding usage on Grok models as the comparable Cursor plan.
If you already pay for SuperGrok, Cursor or X Premium
You don't have to do anything. "Nothing changes for existing SuperGrok, Cursor, or X Premium subscribers," SpaceXSI says, and you keep your plan and price.
If you stay put, an annual plan runs to its end date. If you switch, your old plan is cancelled and you get a prorated refund for the time you didn't use.
Switching is permanent. SpaceXSI's help pages say it "can't be undone, and Support can't undo it for you," and if you pay for Cursor through Apple's App Store, you have to cancel there yourself or Apple keeps billing you.
The old plans are closed to new sign-ups, and Cursor's team says on its forum that everyone will eventually move to the new ones with advance notice, though there's no timeline yet.
Putting Grok and Cursor in one plan was something I mentioned in my video testing Grok Bot against OpenAI's Dots and Meta's Muse agents: with Grok and Cursor sold separately, it was confusing to know which plan to pay for.
In that video, I'd burned through all of my SuperGrok plan, "which is actually $30 a month, not to be confused with Cursor Pro, which is $20 a month. It's all very confusing."
I'm glad they did this.
Claude still isn't part of it, though, so for now, if you run Grok Bot but use Claude Code for most of your coding, you still need a separate Claude subscription. You'd then run Claude Code through its extension inside Cursor, or in the terminal, and that usage comes out of your Claude plan.
Here's the full test of all three agents:
